Visiting Artist Seminar Discussion with Gerard Byrne

The School of Art and Art History at the University of Florida is proud to present a lecture with visiting artist Gerard Byrne on April 13, 2017, at 4 pm and a seminar discussion on April 14, 2017 at 3 pm in in Fine Arts Building C, Room 102 (FAC 102). The lecture series is free and open to the public.

Gerard Byrne

Gerard Byrne works with photography, film and multi-screen installations. He is the subject of multiple one-person exhibitions at an international range of art venues as well as the subject of essays, articles, reviews and other publications dedicated to his work and methods. Lisson Gallery describes Byrne's work as "visually rich and intellectually complex." Byrne's projects examine the slippage between time, the act of image creation and the ambiguities of language. Some of Byrne's accomplishments include serving as the 2007 Ireland representative at the 52nd Venice Biennial and recently completing a solo exhibition at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA).

Byrne's visit is co-supported by the University of Florida International Center (UFIC), the Fawbush Family Foundation and the Harn Eminent Scholar Chair in Art History (HESCAH).  The  organizer wishes to thank Susanne Hill, Professor Melissa Hyde and the Fawbush Family for their support.
