Biography

Tony Berry (Master Carpenter) has been an employee of the School of Theatre and Dance since 2008. Tony is responsible, in part, for the construction of all settings for our School of Theatre and Dance’s season of productions. His attention to detail and expert craftsmanship are especially appreciated by our students, as Tony shares these skills with them on a daily basis.

Tony is a native of Texas, and prior to joining the staff of UF, he taught 2 and 3 dimensional design, visual art survey courses, and all levels of ceramics in the art departments of both McMurry and Hardin-Simmons Universities. He also served as scenic designer and technical director for numerous theatre and opera productions for both schools. His other design credits include productions for the Historic Paramount Theatre, Abilene Opera Association, and the Abilene Philharmonic.

He is a member of the Texas Clay Arts Association and the American Craft Guild, and a past member of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts and the Center for Contemporary Arts.

Tony is proud to have the opportunity to bring his broad array of skills and experience in set construction and visual art to the University of Florida.
