2015 SCI National Conference / SCI 50th Anniversary Call for Works

The Florida Contemporary Music Festival and The School of Music at The University of Florida are honored to host the Society of Composers, Inc. 50th Anniversary National Conference, featuring festival composer-in-residence Don Freund.   

Submission Deadline: 1 April 2015
Please submit score (if appropriate) and recording (if available)

COMPOSITIONS
Composers are invited to submit a maximum of two works for their own performers or any of the following.  Preference will be given to works under 10 minutes duration.

     • Works for 1-5 of the following instruments or voices:  soprano, baritone, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion, piano, organ, harpsichord, violin, viola, ‘cello, guitar, and double-bass
     •  Orchestra
     •  Choir
     •  Symphonic Band
     •  Jazz combo or big band
     •  Opera scenes (up to 6 vocalists, piano or electronic accompaniment, up to 15 minutes in duration)
     •  Flute choir
     •  Clarinet choir
     •  Student saxophone quartets or saxophone ensemble
     •  Horn ensemble (up to 8 parts)
     •  Cello ensemble (up to 8 parts)
     •  Guitar trio
     •  Percussion ensemble
     •  Electroacoustic works, including fixed media (2, 4 and 8 channel), video and interactive media (including those that use the above instruments)

Guest performers and ensembles:
     •  musicians from soundSCAPE, solo pieces or combinations of flute, clarinet, cello, percussion, piano
     •  Red Clay Saxophone Quartet
     •  Mary Hellmann, pianist
     •  Dan Koppelman, pianist

PAPERS
Authors are invited to submit one 500 word abstract in PDF form on the topic of “The Composer as an Entrepreneur: Creative Life in the 21st Century.” If selected the author will need to have camera-ready copy of their complete paper available for publication on September 1, 2015.
